Eczema is debilitating skin disease with a negative psychological impact on affected patients. Current treatment options are cumbersome and may not help all patients. PinkCure is an innovative product derived from a pink bacterium, Roseomonas mucosa(R.Mucosa) with a potential to improve physical and psychological symptoms in a fun and sustainable way. PinkCure comes with a sleeve (or a patch depending on affected area) and a gel made of Chitosan and Sodium alginate impregnated with pink-pigmented bacteria, Roseomonas mucosa(R.Mucosa).

 

R.Mucosa produces healthy lipids to promote skin repair and helps with restoring microbial diversity.  As a next step,  I will build on a prototype created by our BDC team,  and create a sleeve or patch impregnated with chitosan and sodium alginate gel that will provide a suitable environment to promote R.Mucosa growth.  I also plan to experiment with new techniques in textile dyeing using bacterial pigments, and explore the idea of colored healing fabric that will improve acceptance of treatment by patients, especially kids.

 

In summary, PinkCure is an innovative textile bio product that has the potential to improve skin symptoms and mental health of eczema patients.
